The final days

With everything coming up so soon such as holidays and exams and an approaching dead line, I am completing the last few things needed.

This morning I went to the sunrise to take images with a couple of people I know. I wanted some fitness looks but at the same time I want to include happiness and fitness in other forms. So we took some yoga images and ballet images on the beach.
I plan on putting around six images on my table of contents so I will include two of healthy foods, two of images of the ones I took yesterday, and two images of gym workouts. So I had these two images chosen for the table of contents.

This is how the first two images sit on the table of contents and as of now I like it. Although I am not sure if I would like to mix and match it so when I include my other images next week I will play around with it and figure out which looks best. I am also wondering if I should include yellow or teal in my table of contents.

Passover or carbs over!!!

With passover around the corner its a great trail for my fitness diet. Cutting out carbs is a great start to school coming back. Took a few days off from the gym but feel the soreness everywhere. Can't wait to try this no bread week!!!!

Today I worked on my two-page spread creating my article and will complete it today. Once I finish that tomorrow I will focus on my advertisement which I have already chosen a company to represent and design an Ad for. As of now, I will continue to work on my two-page spread and jot down ideas but until I am done my article must remain hidden to keep the mystery!!

Remember, we all start somewhere.

Maybe after my workout..

So according to my schedule I am supposed to have my cover page and beginning my two-page spread but with constant ideas flying through my head and many failed attempts I have fallen back on my cover page but today I am beginning my two-page spread as promised.
Completing a two-page spread is a lot harder than expected,
I thought I had all these ideas but the words are harder to put \down than they are flying around my head. I want to reach people in a certain way and include as many visuals as possible to encourage my readers. I decided to do a photoshoot of my actual workout routines; some inside and some outside.
The words other than the title on the spread is just the tempelte version and isn't mine. I just wanted to show an example of what I have and what I am starting with. So the white spots are where I want images to go. I  will have four images images of food, my aunt, and workouts.
The turquoise writing is a quote I want to retrieve from my aunt who is a nutritionist. The colors that are on my two-page spread will match the cover page in a certain way.

Next I have the second part of the two page spread. On the left coloum I want to put about 4-5 pictures of workouts and foods. So in the yellow part it will be the foods and the blue part it will be the work outs.
I will cover many topics in this article such as; workouts for indoor and outdoor, your metabolism, what benefits you, cheat day, and putting in work.

What a week!

Wow, what a busy week!
Happy Afternoon everybody!!! This week was a handful, I have been editing touching up and planning. I decided to brainstorm a lot. I have found somebody to be my photographer because after many failed attempts, I got nowhere (LOL).
I don't have much to show you guys as of now because I am still playing around with colors and letterings. My set theme is tourquise, black, and white but I feel like I should edit in other colors like a yellow. As a young adult I have realized the color yellow has come back and better than ever. It is a striking color and I want to include it lightly on my magazine to grasp the attention of my readers.

This is the shade of yellow I want to splash on my magazine cover and all throughout my magazine.

These two magazines have splashes of yellow on the cover page but my idea is to touch the yellow in the lettering not on the main image of the cover page.

This magazine to the right (hiteen) has only one dash of yellow but its the best example I could find. Basic colors and that dash of yellow really stands out.

PSA on my fitness attempt for my article: Spring break has come around and my fitness motivation is getting harder although waking up a little later feels nice. Working out during the day has felt awesome and makes me sweat much more since the sun is cooking me! Today is my cheat day and i'll be having a nice dinner at Rok Burger in fort lauderdale.

Is it ever a happy Monday?

These five A.M. wake up calls are dreadful especially on a Monday after Sunday Fun Day.
Through this amazing weekend I am ready to delve into my magazine and get working! I've decided to begin my table of contents and play around with it. My beginning stages are the stories I decided to include and just my words. I plan on adding a couple of images and adding a little color or so. I will complete a short editors note just to have on my magazine to have a sense of modernness and class.

My plan is to include some of the teal that will be on my cover page onto my table of contents. So my main three colors will be teal, black, and white. Of course this can always change the more I play around and edit my cover page.

The images I want to put on are either two rows of three and the images will be black and white or I want two rows of three with the images in popping colors.

The images I want to put up will be delicious and healthy food, best workout store, gym pictures, and anything that will look aesthetically pleasing.

As of now this is my current status on my magazine. This week I plan to keep taking my cover photos and finish it up. I will also begin to take the images for my table of contents. By the end of the week, I plan to have my cover page complete ( if not it is okay, shooting takes time), table of contents, and research more for my two-page spread.

Sweating it all out

Playing around on Canva, the website I was shown, I decided to create a templet of what my cover page will look like regarding layout and color schemes.

So I decided to go with dark colors but I would like to fix the F on fierce and make it more visible. I also would like to change the story title into a brighter color like teal. I choose teal because my image will have a woman in teal Nike pants. The color coordination will be strong.
I plan to have my magazine cover page done by Sunday and begin with my table of contents.

This is a pallet of the different shades, I was thinking of going with the top center color. It is the brightest teal and it will stand out. I think colors are beyond important when creating your cover page because you need to use images and colors that will grab peoples attention quickly.
As a magazine reader I think there are two ways to go with your magazine. I either like to see a nice color coordination with a color pop or a simplistic page with not tooo many colors but not too bland.

This magazine has nice color schemes because it is all bland but the different designs in colors on her make the magazine appealing. Although I think the masthead should be a different color because it is slightly hard to read but other than that it is beyond appealing.

This magazine has more of a simplistic look. It is not too bland, it is classy and eye catching. I think it reaches who it is trying to reach.

Groupies!!!

Today was quite eventful
We met up in groups of four or five. In my group was Morgain Weintraub , Azhar Ali, Nicholas Yanez, and  Brian Kaye

We spoke about each blog explaining our ideas, themes, and future plans. Each person gave us personal feed back:

Most of my group liked my ideas of the different things I wanted to do with my blog. Azhar told me I should include a post about a cheat day and I realized many people want a flat stomach but don't want to do all the steps of getting it. Keeping a new diet is hard especially if you aren't used to controlling your eating habits. So in my magazine I plan to include that when I create my two-page spread.

I also got some feed back from Morgan about my blog layout. My explanation under my title is very hard to read because the color blends with the back round so I will change that. Morgan also showed me a website to create your magazine cover page with a theme that you can edit and change on your own.

Other than the minimal problems, my group liked my ideas and the different things I wanted to include. The feed back we gave each other was constructive criticism, I feel a lot better and open to new ideas. Seeing everyones blog showed me what I  can do differently and what I should continue doing. I know what I want to do is slightly difficult but I want it to be real and jaw-dropping. I will accomplish what I need to do and keep you guys updated.

According to my schedule (this week posted below again)
Week Two (3/5-3/11)
-Three postings (each post this week will delve into the progress and beginning stages of my project and thoughts.
- Begin creating and planning cover pages and stories
- Take photos for cover page
- Edit and update blog to appeal to target audience
I plan on beginning my cover page and taking my photos. I already chose my templet and color schemes but now I will begin shooting. By this week I should have a rough draft posted.

The life of the Layout

With all this research being done I plan to begin my layout and brainstorming what I expect my magazine to look like.
My magazine will have a more simplistic and neat look. I want to keep my magazine a catch to the eye but also very appealing. With that being said, I want to simple colors and small images not too many to throw people off. I also want there to be no more two-three text colors so it isn't discolored or confusing to my target audience.

The images above are woman working out hard, so what I want to keep my magazine different but yet appealing I want the cover to be a fit woman interacting. Not just modeling fitly, I want it to bulge out with "wow, I want to do that". With light editing and real interaction it will give women a real feel to it meaning everything that written is true and accomplishable.

The images above are me, taken by Payton B..
The images are real and unedited at the moment, they definitely not the images I will be using but I want to show that using your own image of a woman acting what she is selling shows a lot more to the audience especially with society today. I think it makes women look real and in powered which is exactly what we need to avoid sensitivity and attract our target audience. They want real and real is the actually action not the end result.

My goal for this magazine is to be beyond real and reliable. Society has had issues with editing, fake news, and cover ups. This magazine is going to be what we have been missing all along. I will change step by step and my first step is putting my cover image, something real and appealing.

UPDATE:
I've been running bleachers at 5 AM for the past week and although my body feels the burn I feel better already. Working out in the morning is so different from the night, your morning is fresh and so is your body. You get a burn through the day that allows you to push yourself through the day.
Eating healthy has been slightly harden than expected from somebody who has asthma but I have been eating fruits and the right amount of protein to keep me energized, healthy, and accomplish my goal!
I plan on trying out workouts I have read up online about in the next couple of days to tell you how benefiting and hard they are.

Its Bananas, B-a-n-a-n-a-s

With my Table of Contents in mind, I've decided to plan what I want to incorperate in my magazine.
The topics I plan to cover:
- Best foods to lose your belly
Referring to my last post, those nine small foods help but I will include 20 most benefiting foods for you to drop that belly weight.
- Benefiting workouts
- Meal prep plan

So with recent discussion, I spoke to my aunt about having my two-page spread about her doing her nutrition delicious meal prep and the most benefiting ways to lose your belly. Some research I did for these upcoming topics were about your metabolism. Losing your belly is not only going to the gym, it's also about what you consume. That all begins with your metabolism, your metabolism is affected by a few factors. According to healthbeckon.com
Age is a factor because your metabolism decreases with increasing age due to the loss of lean muscle
Gender is a factor because women have a lower metabolism than men due to body composition and weight. Theres a higher affect on women also because they have menstrual cycles and other factors.
Hormones is another because alteration in hormones causes the increases and decrease of metabolic activities.
Nutrition is another factor because several nutrients are responsible for increasing or decreasing the rate of metabolism
Stress/ Emotions is a big factor because stress and other emotions can also affect your metabolism.
There are 10 of the 20 foods that boost up your metabolic rate:
1. Green tea - Zero calories, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, and vitamin B, also is a good source of manganese.
2. Egg Whites- amino acids in the egg whites, no fat, calories, or cholesterol
3. Avocado- highly nutritious containing vitamin K, B9, B6, B5, and vitamin C. It also contains many important minerals such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron.
4. Lemon - A natural detoxifier offers vitamin C and helps hair and skin.
5. Oatmeal - High contents of fiber which aides digestion, it also contains vitamin B1, B5, B6, and vitamin E.
6. Ginger- Ginger is one of the best ways boosting your 20% in three hours, it acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti- bacterial.
7. Lettuce- Low in calories but high in nutrients including; vitamin A, E, and K.
8. Almonds- being one of the most nutritious nuts containing fatty acids, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and iron.
9. Broccoli - Contains a combination of calcium and vitamin C. It is low in calories and saturated fat but high in fiber.
10. Spinach - Low in calories, saturated fat, and cholesterol. It is an excellent source of vitamin K.
Now that I have a bigger understanding of metabolism, health, and what benefits you I can give more insight and am more educated to meet the needs of my target audience. I will not only research and learn but I will try and understand.

Other pages listed on my table of contents will be:
- Best workout clothes
- Top gyms in the area
- Fitness competition
- Around the world Fitness

A little bit of this, a little bit of that!

In the beginning stages of creating my cover page, I've decided to look at other Fitness or Health magazines to see what others do to grab their target audience and what I would like to do differently. I googled the top 10 fitness magazines that are in now and took the top three to look at.
Here are the top three out of the ten that came up. I eliminated the Men's health because I decided to focus mainly on woman as my target audience although I did peak to see what a men's fitness magazine looks like.
Beginning with Health, rated number one, I decided to look at three different cover pages and gather the pros and cons.
This magazine uses bright yellow for their main topic which grabs readers attention at first sight.
I do not like how the model is wearing more of a bathing-suit and does not look as fit or fitness related as it should be if it is speaking about weight loss, better abs, butt, and legs. I think it is good that they show her stomach, even if it seems revealing, it shows readers the body they will strive to get and maybe even get if they pick up this issue.
Health is known for reaching a more broad audience with no political affiliation, it is appropriate for all readers. It mainly goes over fitness advice, workouts, and informative articles.
In my magazine, I will include bright colors on the more important words and topics so readers will grab it at first glance.
I will not use a photo of a woman in what seems to be a bathing-suit, keeping it more real and fitness/ athletically related is better for the target audience.
Looking at another issue from the Health magazine, I realize their bright colors are a constant pattern. They are always included to push out their topic that will make readers interested.
Yet this issue has a few problems, the photo is a woman in a leather jacket with undies and it is quite revealing. The magazine is going over real results and abs yet their cover page image shows nothing but a model in nothing. I think their cover page images should really be more attached to their magazines topic.
The white smaller writing can be slightly difficult to read. Their bright and bigger colors are phenomenal but their minor topics and explanations are too light and complex to read.

Moving onto my next magazine I decided to look at for their cover page, I picked Women's Health. This magazine really hits the spot, the image on the cover page genuinely relates to the topics of the magazine. The cover image seems a lot more interactive with their target audience. The color scheme is not too much yet not too little. Although the word "Abs" on the bottom left corner is slightly hard to read at first glance. It is easily confused with "Alos"
This magazine is very well done,  they meet the wants of their target audience with giving it a more realistic vibe rather than a perfect model body.

Women's Health is more to speak to independent women that are more modern and practical. I revolves around fitness concerns and health concerns for their target audience.

Trying it all out..

Before I write a two page article about this I decided to test it out and see if I can get the results before I give opinions and facts on this. I bought all the foods that help you achieve a better stomach and decided to kick in an outdoor personal workout every morning before class and gym workouts.
The five A.M. wake up call is a complete drag but studies say that working out in the morning gives you a better results physically and mentally. Getting yourself into the habit of an early starts only betters yourself. Working out can clear your mental clarity for four to ten hours post-exercise. Meaning that the early morning work outs prepare you for your day.

You continue to burn calories throughout the day including the calories you burnt in the morning. Its called getting the benefits in the through the day rather than when you are sleeping. According to the Huffington Post, there are better long term results. Research shows that working out in the morning creates a more consistent excersier because our body loves routine. Working out in the morning also boosts your metabolism because you continue to burn calories throughout the day which keeps your metabolism elevated.

For the next few weeks, I plan on eating two full meals, one including salmon and two snacks from the list of healthy things to give you your flatter stomach. Those were blueberries, almonds, citrus fruits, yogurt, seafood, etc. I will update you guys on my weekly progress with before and after pictures.

Health nut?

After conducting research about what foods benefit you on the daily to help you achieve your flatter stomach and according to Fitday, a website about fitness says that there are nine foods to eat yourself to a flatter stomach. These foods include blueberries, almonds, yogurt, cucumbers, seafood, citrus fruits, eggs, bananas, and peppermint tea. Each one of these foods include a different benefits, these benefits include:

• According to a report, blueberries are filled with antioxidants and research has linked eating this fruit to less abdominal fat, as well as improved glucose control.

Almonds are a great snack when you’re on the go. They are filled with monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber, Vitamin E, and magnesium, which helps to regulate blood sugar and thus prevent cravings and overeating.
• According to Health, yogurt has beneficial probiotics, “which help balance microflora and prevent bloating.” It is also filled with protein and helps keep you full for longer.
Cucumbers are low in calories, have a high water content, and contain the flavonoid antioxidant quercetin which reduces swelling, and therefore helps prevent bloating, making this is a fantastic snack for when you’re trying to shed the pounds.
• Seafood, especially fatty fish like salmon, is high in omega-3 fatty acids and helps promote fat burning. It slows digestion, prevents cravings, and is also an excellent source of protein.
Citrus fruits like grapefruit, mandarins, and lemons are nutritious and rich in vitamins, including Vitamin C. They are also rich in plant compounds and have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Eggs are the purest form of protein and are a fantastic snack, or a great meal to start off the day. The protein and fat found in eggs also help make you feel full for longer.
Bananas are a fruit packed with vitamins and minerals, including potassium, but they have another benefit when it comes to a flatter stomach and this thanks to their resistant starch, which digested slowly.
• If you find you feel particularly bloated, then drinking peppermint tea, or green tea could help reduce swelling. Green tea is filled with antioxidants which can help combat inflammation.
All the information about the nine benficial foods was retrieved from the website Fitday.
I walked around taking a survey including woman in their 20's and above about what they wanted regarding fitness and what they would want in a fitness magazine. Most woman said they wanted it to better themselves mentally and physically. Most woman said they want eating tips and work outs they could use at home or without going to the gym because of their busy lives. Others said workout clothes and best in gym workouts.
I researched what at homework outs for cardio to lose weight while not having to actually having to go to the gym.
These are your four exercises:
  • Push-ups
  • Burpees
  • Jump Squats
  • Mountain Climbers
Then in gym workouts would be

40-20 HITT circut workout
30-60-90 mixed interval workout
300 calories in 30 minutes
30 minutes Tabata workouts

Each workouts burns enough calorie and keeps your heart rate elevated to burn off the toxins in your body and drop that body fat sooner rather than later. Although from my Aunt, Meryl Brandwein, a certified nutritionist, she said that not keeping your heart elevated isn't going to help you in dropping weight. You need to keep it elevated to see more results. Many people think that losing weight, getting abs, or seeing progress is all in the gym, but thats false. 50% of it is working out, to get the full 100% it's done in the kitchen. Watching what you eat, reaching your calories, and eating what benefits you.
After doing this research, which may not be enough, I've found the direction I am leading in. Most woman want flat stomachs and better mentalities but in a way that can fit in their schedule. I want to reach all woman. I am going to write in my magazine most effective ways to workout at home or in the gym and better eating habits. I've also decided to include the best workout clothing stores.
